Mark Cuban Explains Physiology

In a recent interview Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and cast member on Shark Tank, made comments that many are saying were racist. He said “If I see a black kid in a hoodie and it’s late at night, I’m walking to the other side of the street. If on that side of the street, there’s a guy that has tattoos all over his face, white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere, I’m walking back to the other side of the street.”

Mark Cuban: ‘I’m bigoted in a lot of different ways’

Is he a racist or is he describing natural selection? If you’re unfamiliar with this term it is “The process in nature by which, according to Darwin’s theory of evolution, only the organisms best adapted to their environment tend to survive and transmit their genetic characteristics in increasing numbers to succeeding generations while those less adapted tend to be eliminated.

As humans, don’t we have a natural instinct to sense danger and do our best to avoid it? In order to determine if something is a danger or threat to our existence it requires a certain amount of judging. Split-second, almost subconscious, judging. It is a physiological process in our brains and ensures our survival.

Is Mark Cuban a racist or is he a human who is in tune with his survival skills? Given the ability he has shown to advance his way of life I lean toward the latter. You will have to decide for yourself.
